The Mignot (ምኞት) Project launching event was held at the Netherlands Embassy in Addis Ababa, graced by the presence of Her Excellency Christine Pirenne, the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Ethiopia. The event was attended by representatives from the Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (EOTC) Development and Inter-Church Aid Commission (DICAC), the Jerusalem Children and Community Development Organization (JeCCDO), as well as officials from Lafto and Lemikura sub-cities. Members of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities from the targeted
areas were also present.

The Mignot Project is set to make a substantial impact in alleviating poverty and fostering self-reliance among urban refugees and host communities in Debrebrhan City and Addis Ababa. This initiative is
financially supported by the Netherlands Embassy and implemented in partnership EOTC/ DICAC and JeCCDO.

Her Excellency Christine Pirenne, the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Ethiopia words of support and
encouragement marked the beginning of a promising journey towards empowering communities and creating sustainable livelihoods, and promoting localization. From both implementing partners EOTC/DICAC is responsible for implementing planned project activities in Addis Ababa, focusing on the livelihood’s development, social protection, financial
inclusion, & social empowerment of out of camp refugees and the host community in the Lafto and Lemikura sub-cities. This initiative aims to benefit a total of 500 households.

Meanwhile, JeCCDO will implement a similar project in Debre Birehan, targeting internally displaced persons in the host community located in the Zereyakob, Minilik, and Tebasie sub-cities. This project will assist 300 households over the next two years. In summary, by addressing the triple nexus of humanitarian aid, livelihoods, and development, the project aims to benefit 800 households in Addis Ababa and Debre Birehan. The total budget is €2,100,000, with €525,000 allocated to JeCCDO and €1,575,000 to EOTC/DICAC.
